We are seeking a highly skilled, dynamic, and insightful Radio Journalist to cover breaking employment news, industry trends, policy changes, and economic shifts affecting Africa’s labor market.
This volunteer role is ideal for a vibrant storyteller who brings energy to the airwaves and is passionate about empowering communities through relevant, informative, and entertaining programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Host regular radio segments that explore job trends, career growth, and workplace culture across Africa.
- Curate engaging music, commentary, and interviews aligned with Career Indaba’s mission.
- Prepare show scripts and talking points to ensure informed, impactful discussions.
- Interact with listeners via live calls, social media, and community feedback.
- Collaborate with producers, journalists, and researchers to enhance show quality.
- Promote upcoming shows, special features, and talent spotlights through digital platforms.
- Represent Career Indaba at live events, youth expos, and public forums when required.
- Keep up with current events, employment shifts, and regional stories that matter to the workforce.
Who Should Apply?
- A natural communicator with a vibrant, confident on-air presence.
- At least a year of experience in community radio, podcasting, or broadcasting.
- Passionate about youth empowerment, employment, and socio-economic change.
- Creative thinker who can balance entertainment with thought-provoking content.
- Strong knowledge of South African music, culture, and audience trends.
- Familiarity with audio production tools and live broadcasting.
- Able to commit to a regular show slot and team collaboration.
- Comfortable facilitating interviews, listener call-ins, and audience engagement.
