We are seeking a passionate and skilled Staff Writer / Journalist to craft compelling written content that explores employment trends, policy shifts, career development, and workforce dynamics across Africa.
This volunteer role is perfect for a talented writer eager to influence economic discourse and amplify the voices of job seekers, employers, and changemakers.
Key Responsibilities

Research and write original articles, interviews, and features for Career Indaba’s print, web, and digital platforms.

Cover topics including labour market trends, skills development, industry transformations, education, and career success stories.

Collaborate with editors and researchers to develop story angles and editorial calendars.

Conduct interviews with professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and job seekers across the continent.

Ensure content is accurate, fact-checked, and aligned with Career Indaba’s tone and purpose.

Stay up to date with current affairs, economic data, and employment policy developments.

Write across multiple formats including news pieces, op-eds, features, and profiles.
Who Should Apply?

A strong communicator with excellent writing, research, and storytelling skills.

At least a year of writing or journalism experience (student journalism, blogging, or freelance work accepted).

Passionate about workforce development, social justice, and employment innovation.

Ability to meet deadlines and take editorial feedback constructively.
