Career Indaba is Africa’s leading multiplatform employment and labor market intelligence network, dedicated to unpacking workforce challenges, economic shifts, and future-of-work innovations.We are seeking a creative, organized, and proactive Radio Producer to develop and manage compelling on-air content that explores employment, innovation, and economic transformation in Africa.
This volunteer role is ideal for someone passionate about broadcast storytelling, content strategy, and behind-the-scenes radio production that educates and inspires.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop show formats and segment ideas aligned with Career Indaba’s mission and employment-focused content.
- Coordinate show schedules, guest bookings, and pre-production planning.
- Write scripts, cues, and briefs for presenters and hosts.
- Guide presenters and contributors to ensure high-quality and on-brand delivery.
- Manage recordings, edits, and audio mixing for broadcast.
- Collaborate with journalists, sound engineers, and editors to deliver professional audio content.
- Ensure all shows are well-timed, technically sound, and legally compliant.
- Monitor industry trends to pitch fresh ideas and enhance storytelling quality.
Who Should Apply?
- A passionate media professional or student with at least 2 years of experience in radio production, podcasting, or audio media.
- Highly organized with a strong sense of timing, structure, and narrative flow.
- Familiar with studio equipment, editing tools (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity), and radio software.
- Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset and an eye for detail.
- Able to take initiative, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly to changes.
- Strong interest in career development, labour markets, and economic storytelling.
