Core Responsibilities 

  • Assemble parts and components to construct machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Install machinery and equipment, ensuring proper alignment and setup.
  • Conduct routine maintenance to keep machinery in optimal working condition.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and performing repairs on machinery and equipment.
  • Test and calibrate machinery to ensure it operates correctly and calibrating equipment as needed.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand assembly and installation instructions.
  • Follow safety and compliance protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, N6 or equivalent Fitter qualification and completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in Mechanical Fitter work.
  • Qualified Trade Test Fitter Certificate.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a dedicated Mechanical Fitter.
  • Relevant certifications in machinery maintenance, safety, and possibly welding or machining.
  • Computer literacy – MS Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Technical proficiency: ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Precision and attention to detail: high level of accuracy in measuring, fitting, and assembling parts.
  • Problem-solving abilities: strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and fix mechanical issues.
  • Physical fitness: ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy equipment.
