Core Responsibilities

• Perform emergency surgical procedures to treat traumatic injuries involving the chest, abdomen, and other areas as needed
• Assess and diagnose patients in critical condition to determine the necessary surgical interventions
• Collaborate with emergency room staff, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to stabilize and treat patients
• Provide post-operative care and follow-up, monitoring patient progress and ensuring the highest standards of care
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly to trauma cases
• Maintain accurate medical records and document surgical procedures and patient care

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• MBChB with 5 years experience in trauma or emergency surgery
• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
• Completion of a fellowship or residency in Trauma Surgery, General Surgery
• Advanced surgical and procedural skills specific to trauma cases
