Core Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Attending to breakdowns and identifying the cause.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool designs, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Using machinery such as grinders to cut and shape the tools.
  • Inspect finished tools and components for accuracy.
  • Following engineering drawings to produce tools according to specific designs.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent N3 in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Toolmaking.
  • Trade Certificate in Toolmaking and a minimum of 3 years as a Toolmaker.
  • Understanding of technical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, tooling, cutting tools, and machine parts.

Core Competencies 

  • Precision Machining Skills: Must have expert knowledge in operating and maintaining various machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Tool Design and Fabrication: Understanding materials and processes to select the appropriate tools and techniques for the job.
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Diagnosing problems with tools, machinery, or designs, and implementing effective solutions to ensure that tools function correctly and meet quality standards.
