A career as a Pulmonologist you will specialize in diagnosing, treating, and managing lung and respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchitis, and other lung diseases. The role involves patient consultations, diagnostic testing, and long-term management of chronic respiratory issues.

Core Responsibilities 

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, and pneumonia
• Provide both acute and chronic care management for patients with respiratory diseases
• Evaluate patient medical history, symptoms, and perform physical examinations to determine diagnosis
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans that may include medication, respiratory therapies, or surgery
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function tests (PFTs), chest X-rays, CT scans, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
• Board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary Medicine
• Experience in diagnosing and managing a range of respiratory diseases. ICU experience may be preferred
• Experience with advanced therapies such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and mechanical ventilation

• Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and patient care skills.
• Ability to perform and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and diagnostic software.
