As a Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment to patients across the lifespan. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care and support to individuals, families, and communities.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, including intake assessments, clinical interviews, and administration of psychological tests and measures
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and counseling services to patients, utilizing modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, and group therapy
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists) to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide expert consultation and recommendations to support patient care and treatment planning
- Facilitate psychological interventions for individuals, couples, families, and groups
- Develop and implement behavior modification programs for patients with psychological or behavioral issues
- Conduct psychological research, participate in program evaluation, and contribute to the knowledge base of the profession
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior psychologists, interns, and psychology students as needed
- Participate in community outreach, education, and advocacy efforts related to psychological well-being
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Masters degree in Psychology with 3 years of post-doctoral clinical experience
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Psychologist
- Strong background in psychological assessment, testing, and diagnosis
- Expertise in evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
