Why a Career as a Clinical Research Associate?
As a Plastic Surgeon you will be performing both reconstructive and cosmetic surgical procedures, focused on restoring form and function or enhancing appearance. This role requires precision, aesthetic judgment, and a deep commitment to patient care and safety.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform reconstructive surgeries, including burn treatment, hand surgery, scar revision, and reconstruction following trauma or cancer treatments
- Conduct cosmetic surgeries, such as rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, liposuction, facelifts, and body contouring, depending on patient needs and facility capabilities
- Consult with patients to understand their goals, set realistic expectations, and develop individualized treatment plans
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative consultations, ensuring patient safety and monitoring recovery
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care
- Maintain high standards of patient confidentiality and adhere to medical and ethical guidelines in South Africa
- Stay updated with advancements in plastic surgery techniques and technology through continuous education
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- MBChB degree with 5 years of post-registration experience in plastic or reconstructive surgery
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist in Plastic Surgery
- Advanced training in microsurgery or craniofacial surgery is advantageous
- Proficiency in the latest plastic surgery techniques, with a portfolio of successful surgeries if applicable
