As a Orthopedic Surgeon you will specialize in diagnosing, treating, and performing surgeries related to the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. This role requires an individual who demonstrates excellence in patient care, surgical precision, and a commitment to advancing orthopedic healthcare in the region.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, including fractures, arthritis, congenital deformities, and sports injuries.
  • Perform surgical procedures, including joint replacements, bone fracture repairs, arthroscopy, and corrective surgeries.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in consultation with patients and their families.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and provide post-operative care and follow-up consultations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, nurses, radiologists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to healthcare protocols and regulatory standards in South Africa.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in orthopedic techniques and technology.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior medical staff and interns, contributing to continuous education and professional development.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • MBChB degree with 5 years of experience in orthopedic surgery post-registration
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex surgeries and orthopedic treatments
  • Proficiency in the latest orthopedic techniques and familiarity with minimally invasive surgical methods
