As a Boiler Operator, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial boilers to ensure efficient steam and heat generation. The role involves monitoring boiler systems, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards to support smooth manufacturing or facility operations.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor high- and low-pressure boilers, ensuring optimal efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of boiler systems.
- Conduct water sampling and treatment to maintain boiler efficiency.
- Perform compression and safety tests to ensure operational compliance.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and minor repairs, including replacing worn parts such as valves and filters.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards.
- Respond to and resolve boiler-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of boiler performance, repairs, and inspections.
- Assist with pipe repairs and basic welding when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Boiler Operator certification or license is required.
- Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training program in boiler operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in boiler operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of water treatment and boiler efficiency practices.
- Welding experience is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
