As a Wind Energy Engineer you will design, develop, and optimize wind power systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in wind farm planning, turbine technology, and renewable energy integration. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to improve wind turbine efficiency, assess site feasibility, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities 

• Conduct wind resource measurement and analysis to support wind farm development.
• Execute Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) layout design and assess site suitability for optimal placement.
• Perform wind energy production assessments to evaluate the potential output of wind farms.
• Provide technical engineering support for the design of underground or overhead wind farm collector systems.
• Prepare and develop site specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Create and maintain wind farm layouts, schematics, and visual documentation for project planning and execution.
• Optimize the design and layout of wind farm infrastructure, including access roads, crane pads, crane paths, collection systems, substations, switchyards, and transmission lines.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project teams to ensure the efficient development of wind energy projects.
• Provide technical expertise during project development and due diligence processes to ensure project feasibility and success.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5 – 10 years of experience in wind energy engineering.
• Proficiency in wind resource measurement and analysis.
• Experience in WTG layout design and site suitability assessments.
• Demonstrated experience in wind energy production assessments.
• Experience supporting wind energy projects in South Africa and across Africa.

Technical Skills  

• Strong analytical and statistical skills with a focus on wind resource data.
• Expertise in technical report writing for energy assessments and project documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Attention to detail: strong attention to detail in design and optimization of wind farm infrastructure.
