A Lab Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data, maintains product quality and compliance with industry standards. This role is vital for supporting production and R&D teams in delivering high-quality products.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory instruments and techniques.
  • Ensure that all testing procedures adhere to company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines (e.g., ISO, SANS).
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are in optimal working condition for accurate results.
  • Accurately document and interpret analytical results, maintaining clear records for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the laboratory environment.
  • Prepare and distribute detailed lab reports, including test results, observations, and any non-conformances identified during the testing process.
  • Troubleshoot issues with samples or equipment, and collaborate with senior staff to resolve technical challenges.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry, with 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as titrations, chromatography (HPLC, GC), spectroscopy (UV-VIS, IR), and wet chemistry methods.
  • Experience with laboratory management systems (LIMS).
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 or similar quality management systems.
