Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop and evaluate medical devices and equipment such as diagnostic machines, prosthetics, and monitoring devices.
• Ensure medical equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot any issues that arise during use.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of South African medical device legislation and ensure all products meet required safety protocols.
• Provide technical support to healthcare staff regarding the use and troubleshooting of medical devices.
• Train healthcare personnel on the safe and effective use of biomedical equipment.
• Conduct research to test new equipment or optimize existing devices to meet patient care standards.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure materials and components for medical devices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, with 2-5 years in a medical device development industry.
• Must be Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is preferred.
• Knowledge of SAHPRA regulations and ISO standards for medical devices.
• Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
